The commissioner also spoke about the weekend report that there had been a drug plane landing in the Sarteneja area of the Corozal District. This was widely rumoured in Belize - and it was even reported on minor Mexican news sites - but no one found any plane.

The Commissioner says that almost every night, police follow up on radar tracks for planes headed to this region:

Reporter
"Any of this investigation came up on police radar, anything that police have had to investigate?"

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"I know yes, every night, we do track drug planes or suspected drug planes, and we know that [the] night before, one may have landed in Mexico. But, there was none that landed in Belize. I saw a report from the Mexican news outlet that one may have landed in the Sarteneja area. Maybe the Mexicans landed it there, I don't know. But, we have no knowledge of it. We have searched the area properly, and there is no plane that had landed in that area."
