Another fatal incident occurred on Christmas Day, where two children became witnesses to their mother's death. Cecilia Nah was walking on the Patchakan Road around 7:30 that night when a driver knocked her down. ACP Joseph Myvett told the media more.

"On the 25th of December sometime around 7:30 P.M. Corozal police were called to an area on the Patachan - Xaibe road where they observed a Nissan x Terra with damages to its front portion, where at the time one Ralph Ruiz, 26 years reported to them that he was traveling from a North to South direction on the Patchakan Road when he observed a female along with two children in the middle of the road. And as he approached closer, the two children ran into his lane and in an effort to avoid knocking them down he veered into the other lane, knocking down one Cecilia Nah. As a result she was transported to he Corozal Community Hospital and she succumbed to those injuries whilst receiving treatment. The medical personnel also indicated to the police that at the time she was highly under the influence of alcohol."
The driver has been served with a notice of intended prosecution. The accident happened in the Canlum area between Patchakan and Xaibe.
