Borders have been firmly shut for months. Still, contraband continues to make its way across. It's a reality that's kept the MIT Santa Cruz Border Jumpers Unit quite busy.
This morning ACP Myvette told us about the pistol and pound of weed they found in an abandoned lot in Orange Walk's Louisiana area.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head NCIB
"The operational team, the mobile interdiction team which operates along the border, were in Orange Walk yesterday sometime around 11 a.m. where they conducted searches in an empty lot in the Louisiana area of Orange Walk Town which resulted in the discovery of a.40 millimeter pistol and a parcel of suspected cannabis which weighed 5.558 grams at the time no one was in the area so these items were retrieved and deposited as found property."
