Another domestic case was in court today.

Earlier in the news, we told you about a step-son who was murdered by his step-father while trying to come to his mother's defense.

And today, in a similar scenario, with a much less tragic ending another step-father, 53-year-old Rudolph Dawson, was arranged on three counts of common assault, one count of using insulting words upon his wife Jolene O'Brien Dawson, and one count of harm against her son Tyrone Lino, in an incident that he called "Wah lee Misunderstanding."

Dawson claims that it was during that "little misunderstanding" that Lino attacked him with a fork. And with his hands still allegedly around his wife's neck Dawson also allegedly took hold of Lino's hand twisting it upward, in an attempt to ward him off.

Today he admitted that the action was wrong but told the court that he'd attempted to discipline the young man, according to his biological father's wishes.

He also promised the court that there won't be a repeat of the incident saying that, upon leaving custody he plans to move out of the house, and back in with his grandmother.

Magistrate Gillett considered Dawson, a first-time offender, and imposed a fine totalling $1,015.00. He has until March 31, 2020, to pay $310.00 of that fine and until April 1, 2021, to pay the larger part of the fine. In default of that fine Dawson could spend a total of 8 months in prison.
