Orange Walk town Councillor Haresh Vaswani - he became both famous and infamous in the last three years. Famous as the first Indian-Belizean to be elected to public office office and then, infamous, for his partying exploits - which landed him with a conviction for moving around after curfew hours in 2020.
And, then video later emerged alleging that he and friends were partying with abandon during the lockdown. He disputed the dates of those videos, and got off with only a two hour suspension from his council duties.
But, it seems those antics did not endear him to his fellow councillors, including new nominee for mayor Ladrick "Mad Bull" Shepard.
Much to his surprise, Vaswani was left off the PUP slate this time around - after he claims he had been initially told that he would be included.
Vaswani declined an interview today, but said via text that his people will be staying home for this election. We note that Orange Walk has a large Indian community. Vaswani says "they lost a powerful PUP, but I will always be a PUP, but will not vote." End quote.
