And moving from politics to crime… a body was found this morning around 9 inside a shallow grave on a farm on the Hummingbird Highway. While details are scarce, the Commissioner briefed the media on the preliminary information. He refrained from revealing the name of the victim, but he was reported missing since February 3rd.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"This morning sometime around 9:00 a.m., a group of hunters came across a shallow grave somewhere around mile 44 and 43 on the Hummingbird Highway. Police visited the area, dug the shallow grave and they came across the body of a male Hispanic person. The body has been identified, but I am not sure if the next of kin has been informed so I am not going to reveal the name at this time. But the police are in direct communication with the family members and are investigating that matter."
Reporter
"This person had been reported missing or something like that?"
Chester Williams
"Yes, the person was reported missing before."
Reporter
"Any idea of how he died, any visible wounds?"

Chester Williams
"At this time no. The doctor should be visiting the site, because the body is in an advance state of decomposition and so the post mortem will be performed on site and so as soon as that is done then we will reveal those information to the media."
Reports tell us the victim is a Belize District resident who was last seen near mile 31 on the Philip Goldson Highway just over a week ago - afair distance from where his body was found between miles 51 and 52 on the Hummingbird Highway. His body bore tattoos but no visible injuries.
