But that wasn't the only body police found this morning. Initial reports said a dismembered body was found in the Mopan River, but the ComPol said that it was actually the Macal. The body was missing its head, legs, and an arm. Again, the ComPol only had the preliminary details but the murder is not believed to have occurred in Belize.

"Police found a body again in the Macal River in the Benque area. We believe that the body came across from the Guatemalan side and was thrown into the river and so we are working with our Guatemalan counterpart to see if we will be able to gather some information on that incident."

The body was identified as 54-year-old Carlos Peck by a Social Security card and a driver's license found in the victim's pocket.
