This was the 5th murder countrywide in a deadly 32-hour spree of violence in this case, the Compol says police did chase the suspects:
Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police "Yes, this morning around 4 a.m. thereabout police received information of shots fired in the dump area of Punta Gorda Town, and upon responding they saw the lifeless body of Dennis Trapp in a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital in Punta Gorda town where he was pronounced dead on arrival. From what we gather is that Trapp, who is the driver, was reporting for duty and before he could have alighted the vehicle he was ambushed by two male individuals who fired the fatal shots. Police responded and were able to pursue the two suspects but they were able to elude the police on motorcycles and managed to getaway. Again, we know that there are two factions in Punta Gorda town that are constantly going at each other and that is one of the motives we are looking at, at this time it seems to be gang-related and police will continue to probe to see where we can get with the investigation."
