We turn now to last night's shooting in Ladyville, which ended in the execution-style slaying of 23-year-old Anfernee Anderson.
He was about to take a shower when killers came looking for him.
As Daniel Ortiz found out today, it's a senseless killing of a young and upcoming family man:
Family members 23-year-old Anfernee Anderson describe him as a hardworking employee and a young adult who focused his free time on family.

"Anfernee is my - everybody said that's your best cousin because he has always been there for us. Anfernee has always wanted us to feel safe. He said, 'Cousin, if anything happens, I wanna know because I want to be there for you."
In fact, according to his loved ones, he was about to receive an award for top performance at his job:

"He usually works from home, but they had called him in to go get an award today and to do extra training. So, he was getting prepared for that."
But, he never made it to that celebration, because 2 gunmen lured him out of the safety of his family's yard last night when he went to take a shower:

"So, he had to turn on the main valve to go and take a shower. So, he went over on that side to turn it on. When he did that, the guys were already on the other side of the street. They were basically waiting. And so, they called him out. So, we automatically know that it's someone that knew him because they called him out of the yard, and he came out. And when they fired the first shot, that's when he realized what was happening. He ran down the street toward his mom's home, and then, he fell. And, hen he fell the guy came over him and continued emptying out the gunshots on him."
"My cousin came out of the house, and the gunman turned toward him and fired 2 shots at him as well. Luckily, he wasn't hit, or anything like that, and that's when they fled and left the scene, you know."
Although he was gunned down like some notorious street figure, his family says that his killing did not match the law-abiding life that he led.

"Did he have any company that you guys felt not comfortable with him socializing with?"

"The only thing is he always protects his brother. He's a little bit more wayward. I won't say that he is out there doing a lot of things. I won't comment on that, but he always protects his younger brother. And so, at the end of the day, it could have been any one of them."
"It's funny in the society that we live in because can't have problems with people anymore. Even if it's small things, people take your life for it now. He was a person, he always stood up for himself. So, if there was a little hard talk here and there, he definitely wouldn't have backed down. And, I guess it's the wrong person that he stood up for himself with."
The cops say that they have leads that they are currently pursuing in the investigation of this young father's killing.

"We believe it's a ongoing dispute that we have about the 2 groups that we have in that area."

"And he may have been a member of one of these rivaling groups?"
Supt. Alejandro Cowo -Head, CIB Belize City
"No, we don't believe that he is a member, unfortunately we believe that the target was somebody else and at that they had mistaken him with another person."
Anderson leaves behind a 5-year-old daughter.
