And while Moodie's murder is still playing out like mystery theatre, Belize City murder victim Ronald Gentle was gunned down right before his family's eyes.

It was the Friday night murder that almost claimed two lives. And this morning Cherisse Halsall got a first-hand account of what transpired from the sister and wife of both victims.

It was the first murder of an extremely violent weekend. 58- year-old Ronald Gentle, a workman from JR street and his brother-in-law 35-year-old Warren Davis gunned down in Davis's front yard. But while both men were hit, Davis survived, while Gentle wasn't as lucky. This morning we spoke to his wife and the mother of his 5 children about the loss of her breadwinner.

Voice of: Shannon Davis, Wife of the deceased
"We were at the family yard recreating as we always do, and stuff and somebody said who are those two young men there, and I just saw my gentleman get up and walk and by the time he got in front of the gate to see who it was, shots started to fire. You understand me and that is what transpired that night there. Ronald didn't do anything to anyone, you know. He is a hard working man, he was dedicated to his family and he would always tell me, he'd say babe I don't want to die from any kind of gunshot because he's not that type of man there."

"So like what I said I want to tell the shooter that they put a hole in my heart and I want to see him to ask him to ask him what did my gentleman do to you to make you take away his life and takeaway him from his family, Ronald left me with five kids miss, he was my breadwinner, anybody know Ronald he was a cool and calm man, always liked to have fun and run joke. Ronald hadn't been to jail yet in his life, you understand me, he hadn't caught in a fight yet. All that he does is go from work to home and he loves his family. And he would always tell me that he didn't want to leave my side and look at what they did. It's rough mein, it's rough, it's rough."

And while Davis laments the loss of her partner police are trying to get to the bottom of the execution style killing. They agree that Gentle wasn't the target but wouldn't rule out the man marked for death could have been Warren Davis.

Superintendent Alejandro Cowo

"We believe it is gang-related and it had to do something with one of the previous shootings that we had during the week."

Courtney Menzies:
"So is Mr. Gentle known to police?"

Superintendent Alejandro Cowo
"No, Mr. Gentle is not known to police and we also know that he does not reside at that location."

Courtney Menzies:
"But he wasn't the intended target?"

Superintendent Alejandro Cowo
"We believe no it was not him."

Courtney Menzies:
"Neither Mr. Davis?"

Superintendent Alejandro Cowo
"We are looking into that possibility."

It's an investigation that much like the family's grief is in it's very early stages. But as anyone who's lost a loved one would know, a relationship with grief can be nothing but long term.

Shannon Davis, Wife of the deceased
"You know what it was for them to take that away from me, how do you think I will feel. This evening when I should know my man should be coming from work at six o'clock and I don't see him coming, how do they think that makes me feel. And I have to live with that I have to face that everyday of my life. How will my three year old little girl will feel when she knows, everytime she sees daddy coming from work she runs out to go and meet her daddy, come on mein this is uncalled for but it's like what i've been saying the good lord isn't sleeping. He will give me justice."

Warren Davis remains at the KHMH in a stable condition.

Ronald Gentle leaves behind 5 children the youngest of whom is just 3 years old.
