"Around 9:45 p.m. police were called out to in the vicinity of [inaudible], where they found a white Geo Prism taxi and a Ford Escape. The victims of both vehicles were already transported to the Western Regional. We understand that Alberto Jimenez, who was the taxi driver, passed away while undergoing treatment. The other driver and his passenger are hospitalized receiving treatment up to now. We know that NIPs have been served, and the investigators will know what charges, if any, will be directed after the completion of that investigation."

"So far, we understand that the taxi was traveling from the direction of Belmopan toward San Ignacio, while the Escape was traveling in the opposite direction, and they had a head-on collision. We do not know the main reason for the collision as yet. But, as soon as the driver of the Escape is able to talk - because I know that as recently as this morning, they had to do a procedure on him. So, we have to wait until the doctors give us clearance to do an interview with him."

As you heard, police had initially served both drivers with a notice of intended prosecution.
