The decapitated body of a man was found around 9:00 this morning in Honey Camp, Orange Walk.
The man's name or age is not known – only that he was called Rigo or Rambo. The motive behind his death is also unknown, but the residents suspect that they know who his killer is. Our colleagues at CTV3 visited the scene and Courtney Menzies has this story.
Residents of Honey Camp in Orange Walk were alarmed when they found a decapitated body on the side of a feeder road. That person was later identified only by his nicknames: Rigo or Rambo. He was a Guatemalan with no form of identification or relatives – but a friend spoke to our colleagues at CTV3.

"(Spanish) He was here yesterday afternoon, he was here with me, when I went to the town, he even stays with me. I never leave him alone because he usually take care of here for me. I usually bring him his food, tortillas and chicken and I usually give him 10 dollars and after that he went like around 3 he went. He went back to where he was staying after 9 and after that I didn't hear anything until this morning until they told me Rambo is there dead. I was shocked, he was right there on the street. He was a person that liked to drink but he didn't get into problem with anybody. He never talk to anybody, he very concentrated. Yes he drinks, he would never deny a drink."
And while Rigo's name is not known, the man who is suspected of killing him is familiar to all the residents. Most say that he was a troublemaker.

"(Spanish) Here in this area of honey camp that guy isn't known but they say he is a bad guy but in term of us knowing him, no I saw him yesterday, I saw him going around here."
And the caretaker of a nearby farm said he saw the suspect breaking into a neighbour's house earlier in the day. When the neighbour came home and found him relaxing without his shoes, the suspect ran, leaving behind a machete belonging to the deceased.
Later that day, the deceased returned home, but the neighbours warned him that his home may have been broken into. Then in the night, the caretaker heard sounds coming from the deceased's yard.

"Five minutes after my co-worker saying I think the guys pass he said but I notice some very peculiar, he said that he heard he was in his room when he heard like the sound of someone walking with rubber boots, so he outed his light, took a look at the street and he saw that the victim was walking in front and the murderer was walking behind. Now this morning neighbours came by and said you know the guy is out there with his head completely off and now when he add one and one with that everyone saw it was right then and there probably 5 minutes after the dogs barked that they passed here that he decided to kill the person and continued his way going like towards Orange Walk Town and someone saw him going with the machete but knew nothing at the time."
The suspect has been detained for questioning.
