Last Monday, the Belize Coast Guard announced that it was searching for two missing fishermen who were coming to Belize from Honduras. Well, it's been over a week and they still haven't been found. 31-year-old Luis Carranza and 31-year-old Adam Menjivar left Puerto Cortes in a vessel named "Ashley" on September 1st at 5pm. The BCG have been conducting searches in southern waters but haven't found any clues. However, there were reports that the bodies had been found and brought to the mainland, but today, Menjivar's sister clarified that they are still searching. She added that she doesn't know if her brother was killed or if he drowned, but just wants to find him dead or alive. But the misinformation spreading around is making the search even harder.
Ruby Jimenez, Sister
"My brother was at sea, he is a fisherman. we got a call from my sister-in-law saying that he was out and he was supposed to be coming back from Honduras. Its two of them that went missing; my brother and another person. They have a person in Honduras that they usually visit. On Friday, 3rd September, we received a call from my sister-in-law saying that he was not gotten in communication with her, which is not like him and we made a report up at Placencia, Mango Creek area and since then we, along with the Belize Coast Guard did several searches, but we have not received any solid evidence that he got lost at sea."

"Last week about the 6th September, up in Placencia, we received a false information that his body was recovered by the Coast Guard. But I went personally and did a search around Ranguana Caye and Rum Caye down south where he was supposed to be and up to today we don't have any body, any news from him of his whereabouts where he could be. There is several information from people that work with him that are uncertain, because they made statements saying that my brother departed from Mango Creek heading back to Rum Caye which was not the information that we received as his family members. Today we came again because I wanted to come to the media to say that we as the family members have not received a body and we have no solid information of his whereabouts."
Menjivar has one 2-year-old daughter.
