Crime is the most be-devilling issue of our time - the UDP couldn't contain it - and now, the PUP is having the same experience.

And, so, yesterday, the Cabinet approved a three-pronged approach to its prevention that is centered on social development, change behavior, and violence interrupter components. The ministries of Home Affairs, Youth and Human Development are collaborating on this.

In addition, the Cabinet approved an initiative by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and E-Governance for a youth mainstreaming strategy. This will provide young people with the opportunities to partake in skills training and other important roles to eventually become more involved in the leadership in the future. The different departments, such as fisheries, health, mining and geology will be involved in imparting skills to youths across the country.

And the Ministry of New Growth Industries was given approval to form a working group to facilitate the development of a National Cohune Industry. This group will comprise stakeholders and representatives from other ministries such as Energy, Economic Development, Trade, Local Government, Immigration, and Sustainable Development.

You can hear more about that on Uncut tonight.
