10 days ago, we told you how 35-year-old Gilbert Martinez Jr. was found dead near his house in Belama Phase 4.

Immediately after his identity was confirmed, his family began to piece together all available information, and they believed that he was chopped to death by an assailant who may live in the same area. That's just a theory, at this time, and his cause of death is also speculation until a post-mortem examination confirms it. But, according to his family, the police are forcing them to wait an unreasonable time for that autopsy.

This afternoon, Martinez's grandmother, Joyce Augustine, old us that police always seem to have a reason why the post-mortem examination continues to be delayed. She says her family just wants the closure of being able to bury their loved one:

Joyce Augustine - Grandmother of Gilbert Martinez

"He died on the 22nd of October, and we agreed that they have the body at the morgue, right, but the thing is that we waited until they conducted the post-mortem. And you have people coming in after the time that they said that they will do the post-mortem. They don't do it. So, they have people coming in every time. They come to me. They come to the mother to ask about the funeral, funeral, and when we contact the police they disappoint us. They don't tell us anything again, and they would say, well, next week. Today makes 2 weeks and 1 day, and we want to find out what is is the problem that's causing the government to take so long to give an autopsy to the fellow. We are willing to bury him any time between Monday or Tuesday. They told us that they would have done it earlier, which was Tuesday. They didn't do it Tuesday, so we couldn't bury him. I called the police yesterday, and they told us that they didn't get any report from the doctor as yet. So, they said that they will probably see if they can do it. Today again, they messaged my granddaughter and told her that they haven't gotten any reports from the doctor."

"Everybody is getting frustrated because my grandson has a family and he comes from a good family. He is not a criminal. He is not a gangbanger, and he has no police record. So, I don't see what is the holdup for us to get through with the funeral."

According to Augustine, police are indicating that the post-mortem examination is delayed until some time next week.
