Tonight, the news is heavy with tragedy - 5 dead in traffic accidents - including a mother and son; three dead in murders - including a mother and daughter.
We start with the most recent loss of life. It happened after 3 this afternoon at around mile 12 on the George Price Highway. There was a multiple vehicle collision which ended with a small car spinning across the road, right into the lane of an oncoming 18 wheeler - resulting in a violent T-Bone collision. The massive impact crushed the Prism and killed a woman and her toddler son, who were in the passenger seat. The driver of the Prism was rushed to the hospital with injuries.
Our news team went to the scene this evening and spoke with the driver of the 18 wheeler who explained that a dump truck going in the opposite direction caused the Prism to spin into his lane, and he wasn't able to avoid the collision.

"I came off my truck to see what was happening and I saw the baby stuck there and so I reverse a little bit and I was calling the next guy from the other truck, but he didn't want to come and help. As I stop and I see the baby I reverse a little bit to take out the baby, as we pulled out the baby, the baby died. I saw everything when the dump truck that was heading to Rockville, he hit the yellow truck in front of me and then I gave a little space, because all of us needs a space in the road, so I got closer to railing and gave the man a space, but I was not seeing that another car was in the opposite side going, so he hit the car and as he went on his lane, the car was spinning on the roof and it just slide in right in front of me."

"I know you tried your best to avoid the vehicle, but after hitting the vehicle, did the woman inside seem to die right away or was she clinging on to life?"

"The passenger, right away. The baby was just moving his hand a little bit, but as we took him out, he died."

"Only those 2 were in the vehicle?"

"3 of them; the lady driving, the lady who died and the baby."

"And the other woman?"

"She is in the ambulance."
