And another cop - of a much lower rank - who's in hot water is the officer we showed you two days ago who appeared to be too intoxicated to walk and had to be carried by his fellow officers. The Commissioner said that he was disappointed to see the video because the department has done all it can to help this cop with treatment for alcoholism. Now, though, he will face the full force of the tribunal.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"I did see the video and I must say that its somewhat embarrassing, the police officer in question. I know the public will say that we need to do more for our officers and this and that. But the truth is we are all big men and women. Once you join this department, it is because we are of age and we are considered an adult. The particular police officer in question, we have bend backwards even invertebrate to accommodate him even to the extent of sending him to rehabilitation. I was shocked to see that despite all the efforts that we have done, that he is still like this. I am not going to say much because the matter will go before a tribunal and I don't want what I have to say affect that tribunal. But I am going to yield at the end of the day to the

decision of the adjuratory who will hear that matter. We have counselling program through the EPA - Employee Assistance Program that comes through he ministry of public service. In addition to that, recently we've had Miss Ann Kuvas donated her time freely to come in and gather a number of police officers who are going through some stressful situation and may require some degree of counselling of so forth. She had sessions with officers across the country free of costs. That police officer was also a part of those sessions, in addition to that, when police officers need to go to rehabilitation, we facilitate them the time with full pay to get through rehabilitation. There's only so much we can do, they themselves need to do their part to ensure they recover in a way they do not regress to where they used to be."
