Last night, the life of a devout Christian was taken while he sat inside his own home. 35-year-old Septimus Ritchie was fixing a computer when a gunman came up to his window and fired a single shot to his head. Ritchie, who is a Jehovah's Witness, died on the spot. Today, the commissioner of police and the department's communication officer gave us preliminary details:

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"Sometime after 7 pm police were called to Electric Avenue Belize City where upon arrival they saw the lifeless body of a male person. He was transported to the KHMH where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Information we received so far is that he was in his home when a single gun shot was heard and he was caught to the head and that caused his injury. We are still investigaing, we believe that it is more of a domestic nature and police are currently pursuing two suspects in respect to that matter."

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood - Communication Officer
"He was at home working on his computer on Electric Avenue when someone approached the window and fired a single shot that caught him to the head. This was a direct target, so the person that went to this had to know he was in that certain position at that time. We believe that he knew his assailant and I know that investigators have canvased the area and they have picked up some very useful information and hopefully we could make a detention and probably an arrest very soon in this latest murder."

The police don't have a motive as yet, and neither does his family since they say the Customer Care Agent was a humble, hardworking family man. He leaves behind his wife and his son.
