A video showing the assault of an elderly man on Kiskidee Street in Belmopan has been circulating on social media. In the video, another man is hitting the victim with a bat. It's an awful sight and today we sought comment from the commissioner of police, who said that he already has his officers investigating the incident. Here is a snippet of the video and the ComPol's response:
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"In respect to the video that I saw circulating on social media involving an assault on an individual, that video footage was sent to me over the weekend by the Hon. Oscar Mira and I have referred that matter to OC Belmopan. I know that they have done some follow up with the hospital as well as in the neighbourhood on Kiskadee Street where the incident might have occurred and have obtained some very useful information that they are utilizing to try and ascertain exactly who are those responsible for the beatdown. As soon as those persons are found the police certainly will take legal action against them, likewise we are trying to locate the virtual complainant or the victim in this case to see if he would be willing to give the police a statement that we can use to bring charges against those persons responsible, so there is where we are with that at this time and I would ask that anyone who may have any information that could assist the police in locating the victim as well as those who are responsible to kindly feel free to visit the Belmopan police station or call and speak ASP Carcamo or Inspector Grinage and such information can be provided to them in confidence for the necessary follow up."
