And from Union politics back we also asked the PM his reaction to the imbroglio concerning the leader of the opposition, Patrick Faber. As you know, Faber is accused of assaulting his fiancée, Dr Shanikka Arnold. This allegation comes after numerous other allegations of domestic abuse. According to Briceno, Faber had no choice but to step down.

Hon. John Briceno, Prime Minister
"I don't think that Patrick Faber had any option, that he had to. This has been a pattern and it's something that we could not accept from anybody to have this kind of violence against your partners especially leaders in our country, so he had no choice. Well now the UDP have to go back to the drawing board and try to find who's going to be their next leader."

"I think that it is something that's a shameful behavior in our society. It is a lot more prevalent than what we think and it is something that we must all condemn and even the partner that is being bullied or abused, we need to stand by them and to give them the support. I know in many instances they feel they did something wrong, no you didn't do anything wrong, your partner has no right to hit you or to be violent with you or to have any kind of abuse so it is something that I feel strongly about and that we must condemn and that as a society we have to do better, not just the politicians but all of us."

And you can hear Faber's side of things in an exclusive interview on tonight's episode of Uncut.
