And while the bar-room brawlers were in court today, the Meighan brothers went in front of a judge on Tuesday. After the session was adjourned, their attorney, Norman Rodriguez said that he felt they were being targeted just because of their last name after police dropped two more charges on them. Today, we asked the ComPol for his opinion and whether he thinks the brothers were on their way to the US - following the asylum route of other gang figures:

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"I don't expect anything different from Mr Rodriguez, he is being paid to do a job as their attorney and he needs to do the job as best as he possibly can and even if it is that he know he is blowing smoke, where there is no fire, that's his job. The police on the other hand have a responsibility and when the court issue an order, it is for us to comply. And if the court issue an order to you as a private citizen, it is also for you to comply. The law does make provision that where a person disobey a judicial order, it's an offense under the criminal code and if it is the police have brought charges against them for that then the police are in order. Likewise again if it is that you are on bail and the condition of your bail that you are to report to the police station once a week or twice a week, you cannot not report, you must comply and report because if you do not report it is a violation or a breach of a bail condition and on that basis, the prosecution can request the court to revoke your bail if you do not comply with the order of the court."
Courtney Menzies
"Do you feel like the Meighan brothers, they were on the way to the US, when they were caught in Mexico?"
Chester Williams
"Perhaps, it could be, I cannot say, if they were on their way to the US but that could be a possibility."
