Yesterday, we showed you how the new Eastern Division OC took the church leaders of 12 different denominations into PIV turf to speak with the gang figures. Well, that was just the start of ACP Howell Gillett's plan to curb gang related crime in the city. Today was part two, where the police met with the mothers in these gang-ridden communities to discuss things that they can do to encourage their sons not to go down the wrong path. He said that, more than anyone else, the mothers have the power to influence their children in the right way:
And one mother, who was instrumental in gathering the others, said that the main problem she wants to tackle is poverty - which is one of the root causes of crime. She explained that they need to start fixing the problem now, rather than waiting until it gets worse:
