Tonight, 22-year-old Edward Saldano Jr., aka "Scrub-Board" is back at the Belize Central Prison. That's after he was taken to the Magistrate Court yesterday on the offense of escaping from lawful custody.
On Monday, we showed you how he surrendered to police after almost 2 months on the run.
Yesterday evening, he was arraigned before Magistrate Walters on the escape charge. Saldano followed through on what he told 7News, which was that he would refuse to plead guilty.
When the magistrate asked him if he wasn't aware that he was on remand for another matter, he share the same narrative he told us. His explanation was that a police officer told him that he was allowed to do so. When he was asked to disclose that officer's name, he refused to do so.
For the escape offense, Saldano was denied bail and remanded into prison at the Kolbe Foundation until May 27, 2022. The other case he is facing, which is robbery with a firearm, was adjourned to June 28, 2022.
