And while that was the first murder reported on Friday night, the weekend's final killing was also the youngest victim - another minor.

16-year-old Daniel Gutierrez was reported missing on Tuesday when he didn't come home. And on Sunday morning, his body was found in a drain with stab wounds. While his family didn't know anyone who would want to hurt him, they say he was a drifter - often seen on the streets of Belmopan, despite warnings to stay home and out of harm's way.

Courtney Menzies visited his family in the Salvapan area today and has this story.

The body of a teenage minor was found decomposing in a drain near the cemetery on the San Martin Road in Belmopan. 16-year-old Daniel Gutierrez's family became concerned after he left his aunt's home in the Salvapan area on Tuesday and never returned. It wouldn't be until Sunday when they would learn of his vicious murder.

His father said that at first, they weren't worried because he told his grandmother he wouldn't be home.

Oswaldo Gutierrez, Father of Deceased
"So he always used to hang there and it's from there, he borrowed a bike from my sister and they saw him going down by the bridge and right there he went."

Courtney Menzies:
"And he didn't say what he was going to do?"

Oswaldo Gutierrez, Father of Deceased
"No, he just tell my sister to lend him the bike because he wanted to go buy."

Courtney Menzies:
"So you guys must have been worried when he didn't come home the night."

Oswaldo Gutierrez, Father of Deceased
"Well, actually I knew he wasn't going to come to my house because that day I come late from work and I pass here at my mom to look for my kids and then my mom told me that he was supposed to stay right here that night, so I didn't expect him to reach home because he was going to sleep right here at my mom's house."

Courtney Menzies:
"So at what point did you realise that he was missing?"

Oswaldo Gutierrez, Father of Deceased
"Wednesday morning because when [my brother] saw him go towards the bridge and he didn't come back to sleep at my mom's house and he didn't go to his house so from that day, we didn't see him."

And now, the only thing his family can do is speculate about who could have caused his death - and why. But his father explained that since he was home alone most times, he would often wander the streets - making friends and perhaps even enemies.

Courtney Menzies:
"Is he somebody that gets into trouble?"

Oswaldo Gutierrez, Father of Deceased
"He used to smoke weed, so maybe it's a drugs problem. A lot of people said that they never saw him fighting with anybody, up to the same police said that they didn't believe he had any enemies. So actually we don't know how the problem come but maybe he had enemies but he didn't tell anybody so how were we supposed to know? When somebody offers him a job, he used to work but meanwhile he doesn't have a job, he's a young boy so not anybody will tell him- only my brother used to take him to work when he got a job, he used to take him to work."

"Apart from that, he likes to be up and down, because a lot of people see he in San Martin, right here Salvapan and, you know? I'm always working so I don't know, because when I used to come home, he is already home, when I come from my work, and when he is home and he's going to the store or something, he asks me permission, but when I'm at work, he doesn't ask anybody permission, he just goes. So nobody knew what he is doing there or..."

But the police believe they are close to solving this case since they've already got suspects in custody.

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer
"Police responded to a scene at the cemetery in the Salvapan area yesterday around 7:42am where they found the decomposed body of Daniel Gutierrez. We know that Gutierrez was reported missing on Tuesday of last week by his aunt, where she last spoke to him sometime that day. We know that he was observed with what appeared to be a stab wound to the left side of his chest, we have two persons detained for questioning in connection with his. And hopefully by the end of the day, we could give you an update."

"We have investigators out there, even today they went back to try to establish if that was the original scene where he was killed."
