A family of four from Ladyville was taken to court on Monday on drugs and ammunition charges, but for whatever reason, the arraignment never happened.
They were to answer to charges of kept unlicensed ammunition, possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply, and drug trafficking - all serious offences. According to reports, police intelligence led to the discovery of a 12 gauge shotgun and 95 grams of marijuana at their home on the Old Airport Road.
The family of four - two men and two women - were reportedly detained and charged over the weekend. But only minutes after they arrived at the Magistrate's Court on Monday, they were told that they were free to go. No charges were read to them and credible sources say that the order to set them free came from a high ranking police officer prior to their arrival at court.
