And the presence of all those specialized units may have had an effect this weekend when there was barely any crime.

There's not much on that to report tonight except an attempted robbery which became a police-involved shooting as the criminals opened fire on the police who responded in kind.

We got a recap of the incident from ASP Yearwood this morning.

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Officer
"I know that police officers from the precinct four areas responded to a burglary at a popular nightclub on the northern highway on the Phillip Goldson Highway. When police arrived on that scene four men were seen fleeing, one of these men turned around and opened fire on the police that was pursuing them and in a return of fire from the police, it appeared that one of them was injured. Despite being injured these men managed to swim across the river and that would put you on the Lake independence side of the river but because of his injury police caught up with him and he was transported to the KHMH where he remains under police guard at this time."

"They have conducted several searches to try and locate his accomplices but none have been relayed to me at this time, whether or not they were fruitful in detaining any of the other three, the other three persons that were with him."

"The owners haven't indicated to us whether any property was taken but like I said under a previous name that very establishment was burglarized in a similar fashion."
