ASP Fitzroy Yearwood also commented briefly on the traffic fatality involving 21-year-old Police Constable Kevin Ack.
As we told you, he was riding his motorcycle between miles 35 and 36 on the Southern Highway when he lost control. He was flung to the pavement and suffered fatal head and body injuries.
Here's what Yearwood had to say:
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Communications Officer
"This one occurred on the 19th of May, sometime around 7:16 p.m. PC Kevin Ack, a 21-year-old, was driving his motorcycle en route to ISF, the Intermediate Southern Formation, where he's posted. They're saying that somewhere between miles 35 and 36 on the Southern Highway, he approached a bump and lost control of his cycle, fell to the ground, and received serious head and body injuries. He was taken to the independence or the clinic and later to

the Southern Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Initially, I saw some posts on social media that suggested hit and run. But when I received the formal report, I sent it out, clarifying to them that it was not a hit and run. Well, in fact, he lost control of his motorbike."
As we reported, the young officer from Santa Teresa village was assigned to the Intermediate Southern Formation.
