On Friday, we told you how a police officer, Constable Kevin Ack, died last Thursday night in a traffic accident.
Well, over the weekend, 11 other lawmen and women were fortunate to survive two separate traffic mishaps.
The biggest one happened yesterday at the Arenal and Mollejon Roads junction and it involved a police van assigned to one of the police precincts in Belize City.
All of the officers were off-duty, and had gone for a trip to the Pontoon Tours of the Vaca Falls.
But, on the way back Constable Douglas Card lost control fo the vehicle when it had a mechanical failure and he flipped.
Some of the officers experienced minor injuries, while others were completely unhurt. But, Constable Oscar Usher suffered neck injuries in the accident, and tonight, he is hospitalized.
Here's what the police spokesperson had to say today:

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Communications Officer
"Benque Viejo Police responded to a road traffic accident on Sunday evening also, sometime around 6:00, where they saw a white police van, a 13-seater that is attached to Precinct 2, Belize City. The driver of that vehicle was Police Officer Card, who explained that - Douglas Card - he was driving from Pontoon Falls, where he had taken someone police officers [who are] also post here at Precinct Two, for what he referred to as an R and R. He's saying that at almost a junction of the Arenal Road and the Mollejon Road, he felt the vehicle pulling in one side and he tried to keep it on the highway. But unfortunately, he lost control almost at the foot of the hill, and the vehicle tilted to the left, where it ended up on its left side. They were able to come out of the vehicle. Four officers received injuries. The names, I sent you all of them. We have PC Usher, whose family is asking for prayers, and the department is asking for your prayers. He received neck injuries, and he wasn't breathing properly. I asked for an update a while ago, and they say that his condition has not improved since being admitted."
As you heard the driver Constable Card has provided a urine sample for testing.
