Last night, we showed you what police had to say about the brazen Saturday afternoon robbery of the Midtown Grocery Store on Albert Street in Belize City.

This is the third time thieves have robbed the store since it was first opened in 2019. This time, police currently believe that the culprits on Saturday were 22-year-old Shawn Humes and 23-year-old Selvin Waight, two residents of the nearby Wagners Lane.

Both men were arraigned today before two separate magistrates, despite being charged with robbery for the same incident. They both pleaded not guilty. However, due to the nature of the offense, they were denied bail and remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until July 25, 2022.

Surveillance footage of the crime showed two men roaming the store's isles. They then shoved the owner into a back area, and then one of the assailants then went searching all areas behind the counter where he suspected cash was being kept. Police say that they gained entry into the store that afternoon after pointing a gun at the owner and obliging him to open the iron gate at the entrance.

The cops also believe that there was a third person who acted as a lookout.
