And speaking of donations, another received today from the U.S. Embassy, Belmopan is set to increase the presence of law enforcement in Belize's most remote areas.
Now, with the assistance of the U.S. government, G.O.B will begin the process of establishing a forward operating base for the facilitation of anti-crime and law enforcement operations.
And the headquarters of this new base will be quite a departure from the brick and mortar building that officers have become accustomed to instead this base will quite innovatively make use of two 40ft containers to house the officers stationed in a remote southwest location.
Today the U.S. embassy said that the donation of the containers is meant to help counter transnational crime and strengthen border and maritime security describing the gesture as a, quote: "an important part of ongoing U.S. government security assistance to Belize" end quote.
