There was a burglary at a duty free store in the Batsub section at the Price Barracks 9 days ago.
It happened at the military compound's "San Cas Superstore" on June 21st which is within the BATSUB area of the camp.
From what was taken, it seems the thieves were going to a party, and they intended to smell good when they got there.
We can surmise that from the items that were stolen including $800.00BZD in cash, over 100 packs of cigarettes, six bottles of brown liquor, various chocolate bars, a wide array of AXE body spray, and an even wider array of Dove for men hygiene products.
But who put their hands in the army camps cookie jar? Was it a BDF or a British soldier? We put that question to the Minister Of State for National Defense today and here's what he told us:

Hon. Oscar Mira - Minister of State, Defense And National Security
"Sir, we want to ask about the robbery at the San Cas superstore on the Price Barracks compound. The things that were stolen were interesting. It was a lot of liquor and a lot of male deodorant and information suggests that the British soldiers might have had something to do with this? It's a police matter. It has been handed over to Ladyville police to investigate. Of note is that Price Barracks is divided in two. We have the Belize Defense Force side of Price Barracks and then you have the BATSUB side of Price Barracks. The store is located in the BATSUB side of Price Barracks. There is a video that captured the incident and police are investigating at this point in time and I think we have made some headway. I have not gotten the results of the investigation as yet but all indications are that it was probably done by a member from BATSUB side."

"Sir, is there anything interesting to you about the specific items that they would have taken alcohol, and male deodorant?"
Cherisse Halsall
"Also Cigarettes Sir, Scotch Whisky, snickers, other bars of chocolate, specifically Dove male products?"
Hon. Oscar Mira
"It is a duty free store, specifically for BATSUB personnel. So it is not for BDF it is for BATSUB as part of the agreement that BATSUB and the British Army has with Belize, they have access to duty free and that is a duty free store so indeed there will be those items of liquor and cigarettes and they cater for the British soldiers so there will be mostly those items for British male soldiers so I guess that's the reason why those were the items that were stolen."
As you heard the Minister say the key piece of evidence in this case was the store's surveillance footage. BATSUB Barracks were searched but nothing was found.
7News reached out to the Commander of BATSUB for comment but as of news time he has not responded.
