And switching gears… to a car accident caught on camera that could've ended in several fatalities - but didn't!

It's a surveillance cam video captured on Central American Boulevard this morning that shows an accident within an accident and a near-death experience for a 61-year-old-woman and her 6-year-old grandson, and even a cyclist on the other side of the road.

And It all started with a collision, one in which a Kia Sorrento is T-boned by a Dalla Van while in motion.

But while it terrifying collision for everyone involved, it could have been even more disastrous.

Cherisse Halsall spoke with Deborah Young, who saved her grandson in the nick of time. Here's that story.

A regular morning taco run for Deborah Young and her grandson Triston almost turned deadly this morning when this dollar van hit a Kia Sportage causing it to lose control and go careening off just missing the elder woman and child.

But Deborah acted instinctively to protect the 6-year-old.

"I went to buy food for him and then when we were coming back we saw the thing and I hauled him one side and I waited until the vehicle went there and then we came back home. I didn't stand up there to see anything. I still feel kind of shaken."

Cherisse Halsall:
"But that moment now you see the car coming toward you and your first instinct is?"

Deborah Young, Saved Grandson's Life
"Haul my grandbaby and get to the side, only that."

Cherisse halsall:
"Were you surprised that you managed to escape?"

Deborah Young, Saved Grandson's Life
"Yeah, we managed to move out of the way. Yeah, the lady with the vehicle couldn't stop her brakes. She took down and went straight and the police were behind. I don't know what happened to with her."

As you can see that driver had the right of way but struggled successfully to manuever the vehicle to a stop without flipping or hitting a building, and without harming Debroah and Triston.

We asked Debroah what she felt in the moments after the near miss.

"I don't know because my heart started to beat fast. I had to sit down and then stand up and wait a little bit. The man that was in the yard said mein they almost knocked you down."

Still Debroah was less concerned for herself and more so for the young boy. We asked her how he's doing.

Deborah Young, Saved Grandson's Life
"He said his pressure went high, 100 change yeah, only that."

Cherisse Halsall:
"But did he thank you?"

Deborah Young, Saved Grandson's Life
"Yeah, he said thanks, he said granny saved me."

Indeed Granny, a retired sometimes babysitter, was today's hero. This afternoon she shared a bit about her life and her relationship with Triston who she calls "Papa"

Deborah Young, Saved Grandson's Life
"We hang out good sometimes he cries to come to me but his mom would tell him no you have to do your work because he's going to school."

And if he's cried to see her before their relationship now, after this incredible moment, must be unshakable.

Reliable reports to 7News are that the driver of the dalla van has taken full responsibility for the incident.
