And on Thursday, we told you about 23-year-old Micha Miguel, a BDF soldier who took her own life last month after she was allegedly assaulted on camp. Her family is now outraged at the BDF because they say enough wasn't done to protect Miguel, especially since she was reportedly released prematurely from Suicide Watch.

But Miguel had apparently been dealing with these issues since she was a recruit. Back in 2020, a list of recruits who had endured some level of physical and sexual assault surfaced and an investigation was launched.

For Miguel, the report said that there was an inappropriate incident that happened involving a corporal. But then it added that, quote, "No sign of any sexual assault can be established based on her statement or interview given by her." End quote.

This was the first time Miguel reportedly faced a sexual assault, and since then, she'd reportedly faced it a second time, as well as physical assault near the time she took her life.

Her family wants answers and today, the police said they're investigating, however, they remain tight lipped.

ASP Alfonso Aban, Officer Commanding, CIB
"There is an investigation being carried out where a person will be interviewed and then further details will be given on this."

Courtney Menzies:
"But are you able to say what exactly the police is investigating?"

ASP Alfonso Aban, Officer Commanding, CIB
"The police are investigating the allegations made by the father of the deceased."

Courtney Menzies:
"But he's alleging both that he was raped and that she was beaten?"

ASP Alfonso Aban, Officer Commanding, CIB
"Yes."

We will continue to follow this story.
