Last night, the last story on the news was about a Placencia Fisher who says that he was robbed and threatened by another fisherman close to Channel Caye. He said it happened on August 9th.
Well, today another fisherman - this one from Belize City - came to our studio to say that more or less the same thing had happened to him in the same area - but on July 30th.
Fearing reprisals - he asked us to blur his face - but said they desperately need proaction of their safety and their livelihoods on the high seas:
Fisherman, Concerned About Sea Pirates
"The skiff came and took our tools. He came arrogant and said if it is war we want, it is war we will get. They came and took our tools, our products, my products, and my tools. I felt like they are just taking advantage of all of us and we really want someone out there listening to us because a lot of fishermen's fear right now is to go out and work."

"So, it left you all 'shook', it left you all broke, and you'd want the Coast Guard be more vigilant and support you all out there."
Fisherman, Concerned About Sea Pirates
"Yes, because I actually called the Coast Guard, we called the Port Authority, we called 911 and all the Coast Guard did was just go and take our particulars. From then up to now, I asked them 'how will we get back our tools?' and they said they will call me. Up to now, I haven't gotten any call. So, I want to know what is happening; they are out there to help us as fishermen, and nothing is getting done for us."
That fisherman was diving for lobster and had all his licenses.
