So, has the Ministry of Education properly greased all the moving parts involved in returning to regular classes? The press asked the Minister of State about that:

"Are we ready?"

Dr. Louis Zabaneh, Minister of State/Education
"I think I want to commend our Ministry of Education personnel, who have been working really hard. I really, I if you guys go and talk to them and you will see them, some of them working weekends and things like that to prepare for the new year in these various areas. One of the issues we had with the school buses was, of course, the high costs of fuel. So, in a discussion I had with my senior minister, Minister Fonseca, on Monday, he confirmed to me that the Ministry of Finance has looked at a recommendation for us to increase the subvention, the payment to the bus operators so that they can function well. School feeding programs, our CEO. I wish he was here to answer that more specifically, but they're the ones working on those aspects as well. On the show this morning, I mentioned that we have a collaboration between the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Health on a pilot project in the South, where we're working with Fyffes and the banana industry for a breakfast program for students in that area. We're hoping that we can start to move that out into the rest of the country, especially the priority areas where that's most needed. So, I think we're doing the best that we can. I cannot assure you that it will be perfect when we open up. I'm sure there will be certain issues that we have to look at, but I think we're doing the best that we can right now."
