The start of the new school year is now only 18 days away, and on August 29th, the nation's school children will be expected to attend classes in person. Some schools are planning to continue a hybrid system as their student bodies transition back to the routine of a full 5-days of classes.

It will be the first time since 2019 that the country's education system will return to its pre-COVID norms.

But, COVID is not exactly a thing of the past, there are still those new sub-variants of the virus circulating. So, when the press caught up with Dr. Louis Zabaneh, the State Minister of Education, at another event, we asked him about the COVID protocols for the classroom. Here's what he had to say about the best practices that your children will have to abide by in a little over two weeks' time when they fully return to face-to-face instruction:

Daniel Ortiz, Reporter
"Can you discuss what is the policy at this time on COVID protocols since we're going to hopefully have a full five-day return to school?"

Dr. Louis Zabaneh, Minister of State/Education
"Well, from what I've been briefed on, most of it will remain, the hand washing, etc. I think there will be there's a conversation with the Ministry of Health on whether they will need to have masks, on what we wouldn't necessarily need to have the big distances between the chairs in the classroom. So, there will be some changes, but there will still be a significant amount of those protocols in place."
