Last week we brought you the unsolved murder of American Rod Rushing. He was shot 9 times in his yard while getting out of his SUV.
At the time reports had been that his assailants, two men who fled the scene under gunfire from police hadn't robbed him, but that changed on Friday when the Commissioner of police indicated that there is in fact a suspect in 66-year-old Rod Rushing's murder. According to the commissioner, that suspect is a man that Rod knew well.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"From what the investigation is showing is that he had just arrive home in his vehicle and as he exited, someone opened fire on him. he was rushed to the hospital and pronounce dead on arrival. We have one person we are looking at who from the investigation is showing, was constantly at the house. Certainly, the person knew the expat had money and robbery may have been the motive, so we are looking for the person who was always at the house with him. It would appear as if money was taken."

Rushing was from Salem, Alabama. Friends say he came to Belize with the dream of buying a beachfront property and living a peaceful life.
