And, in the near future, police may have an easier time tracking those planes with an in country radar that can track illicit flights.

Last week we told you about the 8 million dollar primary radar that The Central American Corporation of Aero Navigation (COCESNA) approved for Belize.

This new high-tech radar is set to detect unauthorized aircraft in Belize's airspace and replaces a secondary radar that's currently in use.

We asked the Commissioner if he's looking forward to the assistance in the and he gave a beleaguered answer:

"Well if it reaches the stage that it stops landing it's better for us that is what we would want and so if the Ministry's announcement of the radar would serve as a deterrent to the cartels then I am happy for that, nonetheless if it is that the drug planes continue to come then we still have to ensure that we are prepared to deal with them and that is what we'll do."
