And while they might not be chasing drug planes for a while, the cops are overwhelmed, especially in this celebratory season, with noise complaints from both commercial and residential areas.

The Commissioner addressed those complaints today saying that the minute you annoy your neighbour, you are already in the wrong.

Chester Williams, Commissioner Of Police

"No one has the right to have a private party and in so doing cause annoyance to their neighbor. Yes, you can have a private function but the private function must be such that it is not causing annoyance to your neighbor. So when you are going to take out your big speakers and put them in the yard and blast music and these sort of things to the annoyance of your neighbor then certainly your rights come to an end. The police have been receiving a number of these calls its an environmental issue but as you would know the police are always the ones who were left holding that funny end of the stick and so we are the ones who were called and had to be responding but in order for us to be able to take legal action we would have to have the use of what we refer to as a decibel meter to be able to test the level of noise that is being pushed by these speakers because in commercial areas there is a certainly acceptable decibel compared to residential areas, there is a certain level as well and so only the decibel meter can give us that testing that we require to be able to take legal action."
