In yesterday's news, we told you about 31-year-old BDF soldier Albert Moreira who had been accused of murdering his common-law wife, 36-year-old Felicia James, and dumping her body on the Coastal Road. Four years after being charged, he was acquitted and is now a free man after spending all this time on remand.

And according to the Brigadier General, Azariel Loria, he'll be back on duty soon. The force commander told us that he will resume his post in the Belize Defense Force, but that he will be closely monitored.

Brigadier General Azariel Loria, Commander, BDF
"He was also allegedly, and I am using the term allegedly, allegedly murdered his common-law wife and he was remanded to the Hattieville correctional facility and it went through the courts so if now that we've found out that he has been acquitted there is no way, shape or form that we can go against the orders of the court. He has been acquitted so he comes back to us, we are going to write to the security services commission to lift his suspension, he was suspended for the past four years if I'm not mistaken."

Courtney Menzies:
"Will he resume his regular duties or will he be on some type of probation?"

Brigadier General Azariel Loria, Commander, BDF
"Yes, we are going to be watching him, he is going to, because a soldier, his contract is renewed every three years so more than likely we will be giving him some type of probationary time to see if he is doing okay mental wise because he has been in Hattieville for something now that has been proven that he has not committed but we will be watching him."

Moreira was acquitted on a no case submission - after two key witnesses turned hostile.
