And in other news, yesterday we told you about 27-year-old Lorray Arzu, the police constable who was shot in Dangriga as she sat in the passenger seat of a pickup truck. PC Arzu was not the target in this case - according to police, the gunman who opened fire meant to shoot 45-year-old Lionel Rowland, who was sitting in the driver's seat.
And while Rowland received four gunshot wounds, Arzu was caught twice in the head, and she is currently in the ICU at the KHMH. Yesterday, the Commissioner of Police explained that they were in discussions with the family and initially wanted to transport PC Arzu from KHMH to Belize Medical Associates. However, since she was on life support, that move would be difficult.
And according to reports, Arzu is still at the KHMH receiving treatment. Her prognosis remains grim but still, the family and the police department are hoping for a miracle in this devastating situation.
Arzu had just joined the ranks of the police force in December last year. No one has been arrested as yet for the shooting.
