And in other news, it's been less than two months since a suicide was reported at the Belize Central Prison, when 33-year-old BDF Captain Damacio Coc took his own life.
And yesterday, another inmate was found dead in his cell. 23-year-old Evan Morales Gonzalez was being housed at one of the psychiatric units in Tango 8. But yesterday morning at 11:30, he was found hanging in his cell, and according to Kolbe Foundation CEO, Virgilio Murillo, he used his own boxers.
Gonzalez was remanded on August 8th for theft, and he was on bi-weekly psychiatric treatment, receiving his last injection on October 31st. Murillo noted that he was mentally unstable but with no active signs of suicidal ideation.
The police and scenes of crimes have since been to the prison to carry out their procedures.
