Under CARICOM arrangements, Haitians do not need a visa to visit Belize - but yesterday, a group of 10 Haitians flying into Belize on in Tropic Air flight from El Salvador were strung up on arrival into the country. Reports say a senior Belizean immigration official happened to be on the flight with them - and based on her observations, ordered that the passengers be detained and investigated upon arrival. Reports say they were all taken to the Ladyville Police Station and may be ordered to leave the country.

It's a quandary for the airlines, since we are told - these Haitian visitors - who have been arriving for a while - meet all the entry requirements - visa waiver included. Reports suggest these Central American flights are also often packed with Indian passengers.
