Last night, we took you to the end of Mount Hope Hill between miles 58 and 59 on the George Price Highway.
That's the curve where PC Shannon Middleton lost his life when he was knocked down and killed by a drunk driver.
Tonight police have arrested and charged the driver, Luis Fernando Mejia Guerra, a mechanic from Camalote village, with one count of manslaughter by negligence, two counts of causing death by careless conduct, 3 counts of driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, and finally 4 counts of failing to provide a specimen when required to do so without a reasonable excuse.
That arrest is perhaps some small comfort for Middleton's wife whom he'd accompanied to a crime scene at the time of his death.
Middleton is now understood to have died from quote: "Traumatic Brain injuries due to being crushed." As indicated by his postmortem which was released earlier today.
