And while the Commissioner and the guy who crashed into him were lucky to escape without injury - not so for a police officer who was in a serious accident last night.
It was sometime yesterday evening when the officer, Darien Skeen, collided into a delivery truck that was attempting to cross the street. Upon impact, the motorcycle burst into flames, and the officer sustained a broken arm and a broken leg.
Today, the police press officer, ASP Fitzroy Yearwood told us more.
A.S.P. Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department
"I received information that Darien Skeen, police constable attached to here at Eastern Division, was travelling on his motorbike when he and a truck driven at the time by M&M Engineering driver, I think it is Ian Armstrong, if I am certain. But I know that he collided into that vehicle and received severe body injuries. He as transported to the K.H.M.H. where several tests were done on him and we know that he needs further medical attention. He is listed in a critical, but stable condition."

"Has the police been able to establish who was at fault at this time?"
A.S.P. Fitzroy Yearwood
"Well as I said, the investigators are doing their investigation and as soon as they can rule out who's not at fault, we will know who is at fault for that accident."

"We did see that the motorcycle combusted."
A.S.P. Fitzroy Yearwood
"Yeah. Upon impact, it did explode. So we have the fire department doing their part. It is a multiagency investigation, but certainly we will not leave any rocks unturned to find out who is responsible for this accident and I can confirm that an officer was seriously injured in it."
