And if the buses are to be kept in working condition, that means no racing on the road, and definitely no drag races, like the one held on December 4th. According to the Minister of Transport, that race, which caused a blockage of the Hummingbird Highway between miles 24 and 25, was sanctioned by his ministry, and he has no apologies for that.

"I'm the Minister of Transport, it was organized by the youngest chairperson in the country of Belize, a young lady only 21 years old, Brittney Roches. And she came to me and say she want to do a drag show. It's not the first time but because I was there, then it get publicity. It has done at least three times for the year maybe across the country, and likewise in Stann Creek. But I support it 100%, I will not deviate from that."

"We did not interrupt traffic, not even for five minutes. The race lasted less than two minutes so by the time the race done, we opened for traffic. We had a very good turn out from all over the country."
