But while police lost that case for a 6 figure award - they won another and perhaps escaped a similar outcome.

It was a suit brought by former Police Superintendent David Chi and former Constable Norman Anthony - who in 2018 were accused of conspiring to land a drug plane in Blue Creek. That plane was found to have 1,200 pounds of cocaine.

But in 2020, those charges were dismissed and both former lawmen then proceeded to bring suit against the police Department and the state.

The case was heard during the summer before Justice Geneviève Chabot and in a recently delivered judgement, she found that they were either wrongfully imprisoned or maliciously prosecuted. Both Claims were dismissed and costs were awarded to the Defendants.

The commissioner discussed the victory today:

Agassi Finnegan and Jorge Matus successfully defended the government's case while Misty Marin and Kia Diaz-Tillett, brought the suit for Chi and Anthony.
