And while that fire happened last night in the city, on Saturday there was one in San Pedro that destroyed several golf carts and a portion of a woman's home. The only good news was that no one was hurt.
Fire station supervisor Keneth Mortis said that at this point, arson is the only cause that seems plausible.
Kenneth Mortis, Station Supervisor
"Interestingly, that is the only cause that we are leaning into, taking into consideration the time of the fire, the pre-observation to where the fire started whereby we reported that a golf cart was seen fleeing the direct scene and then shortly after the fire erupted. Again, fortunately for those residents out in San Pedro, you are looking at 2:00Am everybody is basically asleep, so again that was another fortunate case whereby the woman in question only received burns to both of her hands and her fingertips, whenever those types of fires happen and the results end up like that we are always thankful and we are forever grateful. The last thing we look forward to or want to walk away from is knowing that there is a loss of life as a result of a fire."

"Those golf carts I don't want to speak on them because I don't know the security features but my limited knowledge serves that the fuel gallon sits right under the seat of those golf carts and if it isn't properly, everything around you is an accelerant so you don't necessarily need kerosene, gasoline or something to that effect."
The four golf carts were valued at a total of $64,000BDZ. The cost of damages to the house is yet to be ascertained.
