A Orange Walk Town resident is dead tonight after he was shot right outside his home on Cuellos Street this morning. At around 8:15, the victim, 42-year-old Security Guard Bradford Smith, was opening the padlock on his gate when a dark colored SUV without license plates drove up to him and someone inside fired several shots. Smith collapsed inside his yard, the blood still staining the grass, and while he was rushed to the hospital, his slippers and a wrench remained behind. Police also observed a collision between a red pickup truck and a gold GMC in front of the yard.
Armed police were posted at the Northern Regional Hospital to guard the victim during the day, but he died while receiving treatment. Smith was a security guard who had previously been deported.
