
Travelers on the western highway and the community of Hattieville saw mushroom clouds of thick black smoke this morning after a cargo truck spontaneously caught on fire.
At around 6:00, 51 year old driver of a Freightliner truck, Alfonso Ramclam drove across the rumble strips in front of J-MALL in Hattieville and saw smoke and flames streaming from the engine.
He pulled off the road, and jumped out of the truck, realizing there was nothing he could do to contain it.
The truck brunt out there on the side of the road, and police report that the Belize city fire team arrived 48 minutes later and put out the remaining fire.
